Goplan 2 is live!

gprelease Wow, it’s been a long day. It goes without saying that we almost didn’t make it on time - those who were up late waiting for us, we’re sorry we took the extra few hours! But now that that’s out of the way, rejoice. Goplan 2 is finally live after a long time waiting. Here’s how we’ll proceed to update our current users to version 2:

If you are a new user

If you don’t have a previous Goplan 1 account, you have nothing to worry about. All you need to do is head over to the new website (New design, too! With video!) and click “Plans & Signup” to get started. We’re giving everyone a 30 day free trial to any plan, so feel free to give it a shot without being afraid to commit (we don’t even ask for payment data until your trial is over).

If you have a Goplan 1 account

Companies and users who have an account on Goplan 1 will be migrated gradually throughout the next few days. In order to guarantee that everything is migrated successfully between the two versions of the product, we’ll be working with each company to be sure you’re well taken care of.

If you are interested in being migrated faster, please email our support team and we’ll send you an email as soon as the process is completed. We’re taking in a lot of people, so it may take up to 24 hours for the move to affect you.

Now that that is out of the way

We’ve been working really hard on this release, and we know it’s been a long time coming. Some of you have been waiting for months, and we hope the waiting was worth it. We want you to have a great experience, so if there’s ever anything that doesn’t look or feel right, get in touch. We want to make this your one stop for project management and online collaboration.

Hell Ya!

All I can say is COWABUNGAAAA!! Hehe… thanks. I’m a current customer so I’ll ask and wait for the upgrade. Great idea to release a friday btw… I’ll give me a chance to try it out and pass along the new knowledge to my customers.

Quick feedback: the “overview” link on the site header (http://goplanapp.com/home/) is redirecting to the old goplanapp website.

Looks really good, I’m a paid customer, but I setup an account on V2 to play around. Nice work!

Rod, we’re on it! Checking.

Rod: I think it’s just a matter of DNS propagating. Some ISPs take a little longer, so it might just be that you’re seeing one version on goplanapp.com and another at http://www.goplanapp.com. It should all go away within a couple of hours.

Its fixed now.

Can’t find anything similar to Notes or Blog. Any place to keep a short online memos and what’s new messages?

I think the equivalent to Notes is Discussions. I can’t find anything similar to Blog, though if you had an RSS feed for a Discussion, that would be your blog.:)

Can’t find the Chat equivalent.

Also, there’s an Applications section under Preferences which looks interesting but also scary at the same time (i.e. fee for extra functionality?) We’ll see. Looking forward to my account update :)

Great job so far! Great UI. Thanks guys.

Panos: The chat functionality is gone in this version, as we mentioned in one of the previews. The reason for its removal is that not a lot of people used it and it brought the whole performance down a bit for everyone else. So we decided to work on something that is more useful - status updates.

We haven’t dedicated much air time to talking about the status updates functionality, but we’ll finally upload those videos we promised pretty soon, so you know how we use them at WBS. I think this is a good compromise.

As for the applications tab on the preferences, there’ll be no fee for extra functionality. The applications tab will list every external application (like desktop clients or iphone apps - hint!) that have access to your data. It doesn’t sound that exciting now because it’s an empty list, but it will be very exciting soon ;-)

Hope this clears it up.

Neat application!

Just played a bit around and I’m really impressed! Fab…

I think (hope?) this app will become the backbone of my company. Killer combination with FreeAgent Central for accounting.

Thumbs up!

I love goplan, but the new icons, logo, and overall color scheme is definitely a step backwards when compared to the previous design.

Um…Where the hell do we login to our existing account? Anybody?

Dane just go to http://goplan.org :)

Dane: you can login at http://YOUR_COMPANY_ALIAS.goplanapp.com/ , where YOUR_COMPANY_ALIAS was the alias you have chosen for your company when you signed up.

Nikolai: goplan.org is for the older version of Goplan, which is still running since there are people using it. :)

excellent work guys!!! :D
it’s good to see that it was worth waiting for v2! :)

btw: will you migrate the free users too or do i have to set up a new account to give it a try and convince my colleagues now ;)

The VIDEO overlaps the login window in http://goplanapp.com/ … :D (Firefox, Linux)

I thought there was suppose to be time tracking on this new version? Anyone know if its here somewhere? Will it be an “Application”? This is all I need to begin using Go Plan Exclusively.

Why did you guys change the design of your website? I considered the previous one as one of the best…

When will you be upgrading the remaining accounts from the old version? I sent a message asking for my account to be upgraded two weeks ago, still waiting :( .

Jack: hope you are liking the new version! Whenever you got a chance give us a word (feedback form or support email) about your experience and what you think could be improved. :)

I am a subscriber, too. And I’m excited about this new development. Can’t wait! :)
